TAGS forum members were invited to the workshop organized by Alappuzha Municipality
TAGS forum members were invited to the workshop organized by Alappuzha Municipality on 12 July 2024 to plan the second phase of Mallinyamuktham Navakeralam 2024-25. This year, the Municipality intends to focus on the pollution of water bodies, appreciating the presence of Vembanad Kayal, canals, rivers, and other smaller water bodies in the Municipality.
The opening session discussed the current ranking of the Municipality in the state and the need for this workshop to come up with strategies that can better the waste management in Alappuzha to plan ahead.
TAGS forum MD Rohit Joseph presented on the larger scope of waste management in planning climate-smart cities. He talked about the importance of making international brands accountable in contributing to the waste disposal in the depths of Vembanad Kayal and the need for roping in the tourism sector in waste management.
In the afternoon session, members of TAGS forum joined group discussions of different health circles. They documented and contributed to the discussion on the various constraints emerging from different circles pertaining to achieving the categories that can help attain the goal of a waste-free Kerala.
